Port Charlotte Seafront, Islay, Scotland, by Andrew Jones"These two shots show the view south along the edge of Loch Indaal, looking towards the many buildings that line the seafront at Port Charlotte. Here, the white-washed walls of the houses pick up the pinkish glow of the first rays of sunlight at sunrise. The calm waters of the loch have helped to create a peaceful feel to the overall scene, allowing a faint reflection of the illuminated shore side buildings to appear. The main image and thumbnail were taken from the same position a few seconds apart; the only difference between them was the amount of rotation of the polarising filter that I used. I preferred the effect when the sky was darkened the most as shown in the main image."
